Flowers shaped like a star are in bloom in the flower bed in front of our office.
We can hear a gentle sounds of rain drops tapping into it.
I participated a volunteer activity to maintain bamboo forest the other day where
I had a question from one of participants;
Would bamboo grow by one knot per year?
I got upset with this question as I’m not good at speaking, but answered anyway.
“Well...bamboo sprout has already 50 to 60 knots...and bamboo has a growing point
with each knot. So if each knot grows by 1 cm per day, bamboo would grow simply 50 to 60 cm per day.”
“For your information, when I observed how long bamboo grows within a day, it has grown by 99 cm
per day.”
“Madake is said to have a record of 121 cm of growth within a day.”
“When I looked at the growth of Madake’s sprout in bamboo forest, it has needed 2 months and 20 days
to become adult bamboo with spreading leaves.
When it has grown in this way, it would not get thick or higher anymore.”
Even if I had this kind of experience many times, making explanations for someone is difficult
several times as much as cutting bamboo.
