気持ち良い　8月の風が

実り始めた稲穂を揺らして　嬉しそうに吹き抜けていきます

秋へ向かって　根を強くする稲のように

竹もまた　7月中頃からが　根の季節で

元気な新たな根っこ（地下茎）を　ぐんぐん伸ばしていきます

よく観ると　節ごとひとつずつ　左右交互に　

もう小さな芽のようなものが付いています

この地下茎を見て　弊社スタッフはつぶやきました

「竹はね　この芽のどれが来年の筍になるか地下茎になるか　どうやって決めるんだろう？」

ううぬ　するどい！

改めて　食い入るように地下茎を見ましたが　分かりません

またひとつ　謎が深まる 　

Bamboo Rhizome

The August wind is blowing across on the rice fields, and rice establishing their roots for the harvest season.
In our bamboo forest, new bamboo rhizomes are growing vigorously from mid-July.
When I looked at them closely, I could see that there are very small buds coming out alternately on both sides on each joint parts of them.
One of our staff members saw that and murmured, "I can see bamboo rhizomes all have the same buds. I wonder which of them will grow into bamboo shoots and which of them to rhizome?"
Hmmm, that certainly is a mysterious thing.
At any rate, his observation is sharp.
