In a place rich in history and nature, where the forests of Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine, Hachijōgaike Pond and beautiful bamboo forests are adjacent, a new base of Takano Chikko, “Shop & Gallery Chikubuen” was born.
Takano Chikko has set up a workshop in Nagaokakyo and has inherited the technology cultivated over many years of tea utensils production while protecting and nurturing high-quality bamboo forests.
Here at Chikubuen, with the aim of passing on their skills and knowledge to future generations, we will hold various special exhibitions and events as a place where you can actually see, touch, and experience items made by craftsmen.
We also aim to function as a place for intellectual exchange by holding cultural meetings on bamboo and the natural environment and the creation of a sustainable society.
“Chikubuen” literally means a garden of bamboo” is a former ryokan that originally left a Showa era taste that was built by “Kinsuitei” to commemorate the 1970 Osaka World Expo, and as the name suggests, it is an impressive space with a beautiful bamboo forest.
The shop showcases a wide range of our products, from tea ceremony utensils to daily products, including the high-end bamboo and old material products.
We look forward to seeing you there.
